The integration of functional sensors in patient-specific products enables close monitoring of the recovery process or opens new treatment approaches. Possible application scenarios include integrated pressure sensors in shoe soles for gait analysis in the case of posture problems or measuring the range of motion of joints after injuries or surgical interventions. In the project, additive manufacturing will be used to develop a device which, thanks to integrated sensor technology, allows the mobility of the finger joints to be measured after hand injuries or hand surgery. A process chain for sensor integration, data acquisition and processing, and provision of the information via a data management system will be developed. This approach enables the treating physician to efficiently and accurately assess the progress of healing and to select therapy approaches individually tailored to the patient.
